ARCHIVED NEWSLETTER - 21st June 2005
Summer Solstice
After
a long winter we turned out the ewes on May 1st. They
started lambing on May 9th and 95% had lambed by the
end of the month. We had great weather through lambing and the
ewes have a good crop of lambs at foot. However it continues to
be dry with temperatures consistently above seasonal norms. Our
big hope is for some decent rains to bulk out the hay crop and
freshen up the grazing. Forecast thunderstorms are non-existent
or short-lived and very localized in nature.
On the guard dog front we have six puppies from this winter that
are working out well and some are available for sale.
The plus side of the hot weather has been that interest in our
holiday cottage has been high and it is now fully let for the
summer – book early for next year!
